Freedom to Write

Long have I worked toward my goal, writing full-time.  I’ve completed a high quality version of the first book – what’s left now is to sell it… well, enough of it.  If you’ve read my book and enjoyed it (and are, perhaps, hungry for the next) you now have the unique opportunity to recommend it to other potential buyers.  Word of mouth isn’t to be taken lightly – three quarters of the books I’ve read have been recommended by close friends.  Buy someone a birthday gift.  Make a fantasy reader’s Christmas that much more enjoyable.  Email your pals and send everyone you know to my site.  Steal your boss’s company card (well, perhaps that’s a bit much.)

Recommending me to others increases the likelihood that I can write full-time, which gets you the next book sooner.  I’ve a family and everyday financial obligations to meet, a house payment, insurance, utilities, that gambling debt the mafia told me not to talk about…  (Kidding, of course!)  None of which are your responsibilities, but all of which ensure I’m earning money in ways other than writing.  I’ve got to pay Barnes&Noble and Kindle their respective dues, mitigate my marketing expenses and donate to the “Homeless-puppies-with-terminal-cancer-fund”… considering those expenses… Basically, I need to sell in the neighborhood of 10,000 books before I can quit my day job.  Will that happen in a year?  Two?  Five?  Until it does I’m puttering along in a golf cart.  You can help decide when I have the freedom to come at this series in a jet-car with sirens blaring and the accelerator through the floor boards.  With an official release date of 9/10/11, how soon can I get to 10k+?
